A Look Inside The Hoxton, Shepherd’s Bush
Mid-century modern meets the ‘70s.
Walking into The Hoxton, Shepherd’s Bush feels like you’ve been transported to the swanky ‘70s. Verdant prints, floral motifs, and tactile textiles greet you with a sense of eclectic retro warmth that’s a departure from the modern-day London you left at the door. The walk through the lobby is then complemented with velvety armchairs, custom Holmes Bespoke rugs, and a wraparound bar, doused in mid-century modern lighting and highlighted with large format artworks by local artists Cece Philips, Hannah Ludnow, and Colette Lavette.
Further down from the bar is Chet’s, the hotel’s diner serving American comfort food with a Thai twist. The menu is put together by Kris Yenbamroong from popular LA restaurant NIGHT + MARKET. To match the fresh yet fiery cuisine of Chet’s, the restaurant space is cast in dreamy Wes Anderson-esque aesthetics with motifs that nod to ‘50s Americana.
This aesthetic continues on with scalloped motifs and shapes dominating the rooms in the form of rattan lampshades, cushions, mirrors, and headboards. Then a noticeable juxtaposition becomes evident, with the contrast of cozy peach-colored walls, dark timbers, and copper accents in the bedrooms, while the bathrooms take on a more cool-toned palette with slick tiles and chrome fixtures.
This adventure of the senses is nestled in the bustling yet scenic neighborhood of Shepherd Bush: The Hoxton’s fourth location in London, which just had its opening party at the turn of the new year. Envisioned by Ennismore’s AIME Studios, the hotel permeates a lively vibe with retro-inspired aesthetics through and through.
