G-SHOCK’s DW-H5600 Watch Is Equipped With a Heart Rate Monitor
Also the first 5600 model to be adapted for sports.
Launching in May, G-SHOCK’s DW-H5600 is the latest model to be added to the G-SQUAD fitness watch series. Designed with the original G-SHOCK silhouette in mind, the DW-H5600 is presented in the brand’s iconic square case. Although the new model measures slightly larger than the classic DW-5600, it’s still considered a rather compact size for the G-SQUAD series.
Offered in several colorways and references, the DW-H600 comes in black and blue, while the DW-H5600MB is offered in black. As a G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary edition, the DW-H5600EX comes embellished with technical drawings that nod to the DW-5000C, the first-ever G-SHOCK watch. An additional bezel band is also included, which features a much more colorful design featuring the DW-5600’s circuit board wiring diagram.
Generally, the DW-H600 is crafted from renewable bio-based resins with a full-resin bezel, while the DW-H5600MB and the DW-H5600EX are outfitted with IP-treated metal bezels. Powered by POLAR®, the new watch follows suit with the previously announced GBD-H2000 model, packing in many similar health-tracking tools and other sports-related features. On the caseback is a heart rate monitor that functions via embedded optical sensors, complete with a smartphone app that records and breakdowns the wearer’s fitness activities.
All four models will be available via G-SHOCK in the UK and the EU region starting May 2023, with prices going from £269 – £389 GBP (approximately $335 – $484 USD). Meanwhile, a North American release date has yet to be announced.
