South London Skater Helena Long Debuts Music-Inspired Vans Collection
Promoting her drumming skills in UK band, Upset Stomach.
As the female skate scene continues to expand, multi-hyphenate creative Helena Long is rising to become one of the most prominent skaters in the UK. Since childhood, the South London-raised athlete has stormed the city’s streets, becoming an essential pillar on local grounds.
The Vans team rider is now gearing up to debut her first collaboration with the brand, taking inspiration from her musical background and indie rock group Upset Stomach where she plays drums.
The collaboration is built around the Vans Skate Sport model and is dominated by Upset Stomach’s edgy identity. Sporting a black suede base, the sneaker is adorned with white contrast stitching and leather accents on the medial Vans logos, debossed heel tabs, and exaggerated tongues. In addition, the group’s cartoon logo is painted on the outsoles by bandmate Laura Fitton, completed with checkered flag ornamentation.
In the apparel department, Helena Long scribbles over Twill Shackets and Range Baggy Tapered Pants, featuring patchwork-like illustrations inspired by her home turf. The former boasts the band’s “Lonely For You” song title at the back, promoting Upset Stomach’s unique tunes.
Take a closer look at Helena Long’s Vans collaboration in the gallery above. The range will be available via Vans Skateboarding and select retailers on May 1.
