Leicester-born R&B star Mahalia has just taken to social media to announce that her second full-length studio album, IRL, will be coming soon.

Since Mahalia burst onto the scene with her silky-smooth melodies and vivid love tales, the UK’s melting pot of soul music excellence has been in a good place. At the back end of last year, Mahalia supplied us with one of the UK’s hits of the year with her breakup anthem, “Roadside,” featuring West London’s AJ Tracey and since then, records such as “In The Club,” “Whatever Simon Says,” “Letter To Your Ex,” and “Terms and Conditions” have kept us satisfied until now, while the world waits for a fresh batch of Mahalia material.

Posting on Instagram on May 1 — the day of Mahalia’s 25th birthday — the singer-songwriter said: “It’s my 25th birthday today and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it announcing this. IRL, my second album, coming soon.”

This new album will be the follow-up to her 2019-released LP, Love and Compromise: a 13-track project featuring records such as “Simmer” with Burna Boy, “What You Did” with Ella Mai, and the hit single “I Wish I Missed My Ex.” The project put Mahalia’s songwriting talents on full display with confidence while straddling genre boundaries and showing skills ahead of her years.

You can expect to hear IRL in its entirety in the coming weeks and in other music news, check out the latest music video from Jack Harlow.
